16 June 2010 Update

We had our 250 C class rider Alex Nicol in attendance at the Loretta Lynn's Amateur National Championships Regional Qualifier at Birch Creek in Virginia.  He rode well all weekend with 10, 16, 25 moto finishes he struggled with some of his starts and a few crashes kept him from finishing where he was easily capable of this weekend.  He was involved in a pile up in the 3rd 250 C stock moto and suffered a knee injury.  He should be back on the bike soon and he will be competing in some Florida Series races in preparation for the Gold Cup series and the Winter National Mini Olympics along with our A rider Dalton Yingling.  We hope Alex the best in his recovery and we hope to see everyone at the track!

Thundercross Mx Park Round 7 Florida Motocross Series:
We saw our C rider Alex Nicol do really well this past weekend.  He took both holeshots in the 250C class and with two/one moto finishes he took the overall.  He also placed 5th overall in youth 16-24.  "Without the help of all of our awesome sponsors and the great people behind me this would not be possible, Thanks so much and I am looking forward to Virginia in two weeks!" -Alex Nicol Freedom Mx Racing rider #694

Freedom MX Racing is proud to designate Pirelli as out spotlight sponsor for January 2010.

The following is an interview of Pirelli's Jake Hamlin conducted by Freedom Mx Racing's Director of P.R., C.T.

C.T.:  What is your background?

Jake:  I'm from Macon, GA and I grew up racing Motocross in the Southeast. After college I went to work with CNN in Atlanta for a few years. Still being a huge fan of the industry, I jumped on the opportunity to join Pirelli when it presented itself.

C.T.:  How long have you been with Pirelli?

Jake:  I've been with Pirelli for almost 3 years now.
C.T.:  What is your title?
Jake:
My specific title is "MX Tire Technician". But, like most people in the industry, I'm involved with much more. I've spent the majority of the past two years overseeing our race support at the Supercross and Outdoor Nationals. Also, we're pushing really hard right now at the amateur level and with so many big amateur races these days, we've got a full schedule.
C.T.:  What is Pirelli's mission?
Jake:
In the arena of off-road motorcycle racing, Pirelli's mission is to continue providing a premium product that can win at any level. Through the development of our amateur program, we're seeing more and more riders try our product and come away very impressed. We are proud of the fact that the same tires we use in SX and MX at the pro level, are the same specs that anyone can get at their local shop.
C.T.:  How do you feel about this industry and where do you think it will go in 2010?
Jake:
Obviously, the industry is in a critical time right now and it's staying power will definitely be tested. It was time for some changes and with very little money to go around right now, I think those changes are being forced to happen. There were too many select groups getting too much preferential treatment and I don't see that continuing with the economy the way it is. Money is too tight to pick favorites anymore and I think at the end of the day, it's a good thing.
C.T.:  What is it about this sport that is attracting so many people despite the economy?
Jake:
I can only answer that from a personal perspective and it's just that this sport is so awesome. From a beginner to a pro, everyone can enjoy this sport we call motocross.  Once you've been bitten by this bug, there is no stopping you from getting out there and enjoying yourself at the track with friends and family. People are always going to need a little release and their is no better stress reliever than blasting down the start straight surrounded by screaming dirtbikes.
C.T.:  What is your long term goal?
Jake:  I would like to see Pirelli garner the same notoriety it has in Europe. Pirelli has won 52 World Championship titles with some of the best racers, including numerous titles with Stefan Everts. Here in the U.S., we are slowly but surely gaining ground, but it's going to take awhile. I believe in the Pirelli product line, so long term, I'd like to see us continue to grow in the direction we are headed. Being associated with teams like Freedom MX has been one way we are accomplishing that goal.

Freedom MX Racing will spend January to March competing in both the  2010 South Florida MX Series and 2010 Florida Winter Am Series

The family is celebrating Christmas next week and Noahs request is to get lots of Christmas cards. Simple right? So lets get him some!!!! Please send cards to: Noah Biorkman , 1141 Fountian View Circle, South Lyon, MI 48178. Lets see How many cards we can get to this little guy!"
